Wallowing in My Id, v. 2.0

It’s Me Again, Margaret

Hey y’all, I’m back. I deleted my Blogger account a few weeks ago in a fit of existential pique, but I’ve found that I missed having a blog. Even though mine was sadly neglected, and I’d quit commenting on all my regular favorites, and was basically feeling so awkward about it that I decided I just didn’t need the ridiculous self-imposed pressure (yes, it’s possible I was making Much Ado About OhJustGetOverIt), well….

You just never know when you might suddenly need to spew something to the world. Better have a blog handy, even if it’s sparse.

I decided I’d try Word Press though. I was not feeling the love from Blogger. He was getting pushy and taking me for granted. So I dumped his sorry ass.

So! Thought for the day. I had seen the word “schadenfreude” thrown around quite a bit lately, and I had no idea what it meant. Sounds like some sort of introspective dance routine. So I went to good ol’ Wikipedia. The term means “pleasure taken from someone else’s misfortune.” Ahh, so like when Paris Hilton got thrown in jail for driving drunk a-GAIN. I get it. Then I was browsing down through similar sentiments expressed in other cultures, when I stumbled across this little gem from Brazil:

“Pimenta no cu dos outros é refresco.”: “Pepper in somebody else’s anus is freshness.”

Now there’s a vivid concept. I must go ponder this awhile.
